The NOF Mock Trial Event
At NOF Mock Trial, competitors are tasked with delivering an original speech that revolves around a fact pattern and legal framework provided by NOF. This meticulously crafted case is revealed to participants two weeks before the tournament, allowing them ample time to research, develop, and fine-tune their arguments. The goal is to present a persuasive, well-informed speech that sheds light on their chosen side's perspective—either representing the Prosecution or Plaintiff.
Key Rules and Guidelines:
An original speech by the competitor based on fact pattern and law released by NOF two weeks prior to the tournament. The competitor will research and develop their arguments over this fortnight, preparing to present a well-informed speech reflecting the nuances of the case. Competitors have the discretion to choose whether they would like to represent the Prosecution or Plaintiff. The intent of the speech is to persuade and inform, shedding light on the chosen side's perspective on the case. Speeches should adhere to the legal burden of proof.
