2025 NOF Champs Topics

As we gear up for the National Online Forensics Spring 2025 Championship, we’ve been getting a lot of great questions about what topics students can expect across events. To help you plan and prepare, here’s a full breakdown of what’s coming and when.

Public Forum, Lincoln-Douglas, and Big Questions

National Online Forensics will use the official NSDA Nationals topics for Public Forum, Lincoln-Douglas, and Big Questions. This means students can begin preparing now with the exact same topics that will be used at NSDA Nationals.

World Schools Debate

World Schools Debate will feature a combination of pre-released and impromptu topics, just like many major WSD tournaments around the world.

The pre-announced motions will be released on May 1st, and they’ll be posted on both the NOF website and the tournament registration page.

Congressional Debate

The full Congress docket will be released on May 1st. Students will have a full month to research, write, and prepare speeches in advance of the tournament.

Assigned Platform & NOF Mock Trial

Both the Assigned Platform prompts and the NOF Mock Trial case will also be released on May 1st. These events give students the opportunity to showcase persuasive storytelling, critical thinking, and creative advocacy.

Extemporaneous Speaking

Extemp questions will cover a broad range of domestic and international topics, giving students the chance to explore timely issues from across the U.S. and around the world.

Impromptu Speaking

For elementary and middle school divisions, each round will focus on a different type of prompt:

Round 1: Concrete nouns

Round 2: Abstract nouns

Round 3: Proverbs

Elimination rounds: Quotations

For the high school division, competitors can expect quotations in every round—designed to challenge students to think critically, interpret meaning, and speak with purpose.

We’re looking forward to an exciting and engaging Spring Championship. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. And don’t forget—May 1st is the big day for most topic releases, so mark your calendars and get ready!
